چکیده

We present a novel pedestrian detection system based on probabilistic component assembly. A part-based model is proposed which uses three parts consisting of head-shoulder, torso and legs of a pedestrian. Components are detected using histograms of oriented gradients and Support Vector Machines (SVM). Optimal features are selected from a large feature pool by boosting techniques, in order to calculate a compact representation suitable for SVM. A Bayesian approach is used for the component grouping, consisting of an appearance model and a spatial model. The probabilistic grouping integrates the results, scale and position of the components. To distinguish both classes, pedestrian and non-pedestrian, a spatial model is trained for each class. Below miss rates of 8% our approach outperforms state of the art detectors. Above, performance is similar.

Adaptive Bayesian Combination of Features from Laser Scanner and Camera for Pedestrian Detection

This paper describes how multisensor data fusion increases reliability of pedestrian detection while using a Bayesian combination of features. The clue is to combine in a probabilistic framework, the detecting capabilities of sensors for identifying pedestrians located along the vehicle trajectory. The work emphasizes the idea of redundancy due to the different nature of the information provide...

Saliency-Based Deformable Model for Pedestrian Detection

Pedestrian detection, which is to identify category (pedestrian) of object and give the position information in the image, is an important and yet challenging task due to the intra-class variation of pedestrians in clothing and articulation. Previous researches mainly focus on feature extraction and sliding window, where the former aims to find robust feature representation while the latter see...

Probabilistic Template Based Pedestrian Detection in Infrared Videos

In this paper we present a real time pedestrian detection system that works on low quality infrared videos. We introduce an efficient and effective idea of probabilistic templates to capture the variations in human shape specially for the case where the contrast is low and body parts are missing. The infrared videos provide the regions of interest, which considerably reduces the search space an...

AVSS2011 demo session: Real-time human detection using fast contour template matching for visual surveillance

Achieving accurate pedestrian detection for practically relevant scenarios in real-time is an important problem for many applications, while representing a major scientific challenge at the same time. We present a human detection framework which efficiently computes pedestrianspecific shape and motion cues and combines them in a probabilistic manner to infer the location and occlusion status of...

Spatial and Probabilistic Modelling of Pedestrian Behaviour

This paper investigates the combination of spatial and probabilistic models for reasoning about pedestrian behaviour in visual surveillance systems. Models are learnt by a multi-step unsupervised method and they are used for trajectory labelling and atypical behaviour detection.
